2. Type of occurrence (Funnel, tornado, flooding-etc)
3. Location (Use common information- DO NOT use grid squares)
4. Time (in progress or after the fact late report)
5. Information applicable to the type of event (wind speeds, water depth, direction of travel, etc
EXAMPLES:
NORTHLANDARES –CLAY/PLATTE has activated weather net and are sending spotters to the field.
NORTHLANDARES-PLATTE: at 7:25pm spotter report baseball size hail at I-29 and 64th street.
5. If you must close early, report to NWS who will take your place.
6. It is possible two can be logged in at same time if conditions warrant. Make it
clear, briefly, to NWS what the situation is. (Example-multiple incoming reports) You must be approved by the event’s NCS to send and represent Northland ARES on NWS Chat
7 You are responsible to report to the net all NWS bulletins pertinent to Clay/Platte.
8. When applicable. Liaison between the net and SKYWARN. Always mention information has been already been posted on NWSCHAT.
9. Liaison should have access to NWS Pleasant Hill/Topeka radars. NCS can request your assistance with radar updates to guide mobile stations.
10. Liaison will use SKYWARN or 800-438-0596 if NWSCHAT is unavailable
Observe input format of NWS personnel and Emergency Managers for type of information they require. Be brief and to the point. Keep all communications professional. Try to answer any questions they may have.
